‘The Guy Who Didn’t Like Musicals’ is a 2018 horror-comedy stage musical by Starkid Productions, written by Nick Lang with music and lyrics by Jeff Blim. ‘Show Stoppin’ Number’ is one of the standout songs from Starkid’s ‘The Guy Who Didn’t Like Musicals’ and is performed by the eccentric Professor Hidgens, the kooky reclusive biology professor from Hatchetfield College. When the alien musical infection begins to take over Hatchetfield, he views the apocalyptic event not as a disaster but as art. To him, the apocalypse is the perfect stage to debut the grand musical he’s been crafting, which he presents through his song titled ‘Show Stoppin’ Number’. In true theatrical fashion, Hidgens welcomes the end of humanity as “the show of a lifetime.”
