‘Mrs Doubtfire the Musical’ is actually an adaptation of an adaptation. First came Anne Fine’s novel ‘Alias Madame Doubtfire’, the inspiration for the beloved 1993 film starring Robin Williams and Sally Field which was then adapted for the stage. Featuring a fresh, original score by Wayne and Karey Kirkpatrick, writers behind ‘Something Rotten’, this brand new musical premiered in Seattle in 2019 before making its Broadway debut in 2021 and West End debut in 2023.
The story follows Daniel Hillard, a down-on-his-luck actor and devoted father who disguises himself as a quirky Scottish nanny named Mrs. Euphegenia Doubtfire in order to spend time with his children after a difficult divorce. What unfolds is a heartfelt and hilarious journey about identity, family, and second chances.
‘Bam! I’m rocking now!’ is a reoccurring quote from the song ‘I’m Rocking Now’ which captures Daniel Hillard’s exuberant, over-the-top personality as he embraces the wild transformation into Mrs. Doubtfire. Daniel, disguised as the nanny, starts to gain confidence in his new identity—blending chaos with charm as he tries to prove he can handle the role.
This pin takes inspiration from the preppy 90s kids TV show aesthetic that Mrs Doubtfire posses and combines that with imagery of the broom that Daniel (in disguise) and the children pretend is an electric guitar during the song.
